Performance Venues
A performance or music venue is a place that specializes in hosting live music events. There are many different types of music venues, from small indie rock clubs to legendary performance halls, so it is always a good idea to do a little research before hand when booking a show. Obviously, if you are just starting out in the music business, you should not expect to play to sold out crowds at large stadiums!
Here are a few tips to consider when booking shows at venues: 1.) Choose venues with good reputations. Talk to other bands and performers to see which venues have been successful for them. 2.) Inquire about the venue's sound system. There is nothing worse than poor sound quality at a music show. 3.) Seek music venues with a helpful and cooperative staff. Having clear communication with a manager or talent buyer of a club is essential. Be clear on all terms of agreement, from date of show and set-up time to payment transactions and guest lists.
